It had been a while since I’d seen a friend of mine. She travels a lot for business and spends time at her second home. Recently, through a Facebook post, I learned that her beloved dog had passed away. I had planned to see her for an upcoming birthday lunch and got a last minute idea to make a mini album to honor her dear pet.
I collected some photos from her daughter and created this mini album in a couple nights from supplies I had in my stash. I decided on the black, brown, gold and green palette once I studied my papers. I hand-stitched together a base album and then the fun part began – creating the pages!
While you still think of the pages as spreads in a mini album, you also think about the other pages that stick out below, or lay on top – making sure the papers, ribbons and other elements work with each other in a dimensional way. I got the idea for the fold out panel piece after I had been working a while – those three snow images needed to be together to me. I’ve done other mini albums because I really like doing them and they are always so fun to look at, but this turned out to be one of my favorites. Hope you like it!
